Desert Mountain Community Overview and Desert Mountain Golf
Where in the world will you find a great community that offers six Jack Nicklaus Signature courses?
Try North Scottsdale! In the mid-80’s, Lyle Andersen and his group looked at 8000 acres of arid grazing land nestled at the base of Apache Peak and envisioned a community surrounding extraordinary golf courses. His vision has come true. In 1987, the Renegade course was opened and luxury homes became available at Sunrise, the first village of custom home sites within Desert Mountain.
Today, there are 4 other Jack Nicklaus Signature courses within the complex, and a links course was built just outside the back gate and is surrounded by open spaces.
Desert Mountain has a wonderful mixture of homes, from attached cottages to large custom homes. Each village is distinct in its style, but they all share the wonderful amenities of Desert Mountain.
Starting from the bottom of the mountain is the Hideaway at the Renegade Course. Open for breakfast and lunch it is situated at the top of the large practice facilities.
Further up the mountain is the Sonoran Clubhouse and Fitness Center. This complex includes the famous tennis facilities (featuring grass, clay and composition surfaces. The swimming area has a lap pool, baby pool and a large community pool with hot tubs. The fitness center has already been increased in size and features private rooms for aerobics, yoga, and spinning plus personal trainers. The Spa offers massages as well as facials and other beauty treatments.
The Apache Clubhouse is home to the Apache Steakhouse featuring the highest grade of beef. Open throughout the year, it is also the venue for the wine dinners hosted by some of the top winemakers.
The Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse is the center of the two golf courses, the driving ranges and the social focal point for club activities. In addition to the dining room is the Sunset Terrace which is utilized for private parties, weddings and meetings.
The “top of the mountain” is the beautiful Tuscan designed clubhouse with Constantino’s Restaurant. From the dining room or the Plaza you will enjoy breathtaking views of the valley. As I said before, each village is distinct, and the entire Chiricahua complex is Tuscan in design. A sight to behold!
Last, but not least is Outlaw. In addition to a spectacular links course designed by Jack Nicklaus, it offers the Outlaw Clubhouse which offers a variety of menus. One of the most relaxed of all the clubhouse dining areas, it is the site of the outdoor music performances.
Resale homes as well as new custom homes are available at Desert Mountain. The Sonoran area and Apache Cottages offer two to three bedroom attached homes that are wonderful units for the part-time homeowner. Easy to lock and leave as Desert Mountain is a multi-gated community with guarded gates. There truly is something for everyone at Desert Mountain. Whether you are a golfer or are just seeking a beautiful, warm community filled with amenities for all – Desert Mountain should be your first choice.
